A virtual institute of Sokoine University of Agriculture on behalf of member institutions, which are academic and research institutions that deal with infectious diseases of humans and animals in southern, central and eastern Africa. An Africa led South-South-North “Smart partnership” that operates in theme based clusters as as Communities of Practice.

In Africa the health, food security and livelihoods are measurably improved through timely mitigation of the impact of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on humans, animals and the environment.
SACIDS will be recognised and respected as having unique world-class expertise, facilities and collaborations for vital One Health research, capacity-building and translation to impact in communities within southern, central and eastern African countries.
SACIDS will undertake cutting edge, transdisciplinary and multisectoral research that is impact oriented, prioritised and system based. This will be undertaken in southern, central and eastern Africa and where appropriate delivered through strategic partnerships with academia, research institutes, and international organisations.
The SACIDS have the real super powers as administration to lead the foundation.
