#HIGHLIGHTS# AfyaData training in Mozambique

29 April 2021, Maputo, Mozambique–The SACIDS Foundation for One Health based at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania launched a training of trainer on how to use AfyaData in disease surveillance in Mozambique.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The training took place at the National Institute of Health Mozambique (INS- Instituto Nacional De Saude) aiming at building skills to INS officials (Epidemiologist, Sociologist, Economist, Data manage and IT) become trainers of community health workers (CHW) at the district level. The training was officiated by the One Health Coordinator of the INS, Dr Inocencio Chongo whereby Ten officials were trained.

Following success of the training to Health Officials in Maputo, Mozambique, SACIDS Team conducted another training to Community Health reporters in Gaza Province, Chokwe District where by 25 Community Health Workers (CHW) and 5 health officials from the district part took part. The CHW training package included; the existing official reporting systems of diseases and event, clinical signs of respiratory diseases, including COVID-19 and protective measures, interview techniques, smart phone and AfyaData in disease surveillance.

The training was officiated by the District Director for the Health Services, Dr. Marcelo de Almeida who commanded efforts of both institutions INS and SACIDS. Also, recommended district officials to take this implementation as it is for district and not from higher level.
