Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance – Africa Centre of Excellence for Infectious Diseases of Humans and Animals in Southern and Eastern Africa (SACIDS–ACE) is a One Health Virtual Centre that links academic and research institutions involved with infectious diseases of humans and animals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania. SACIDS–ACE operates in smart partnership with centres of research and training excellence in industrialized countries as well as international research institutions.  The Headquarters of SACIDS–ACE is located at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro, Tanzania.

WHAT: The overall purpose of the workshop is to support the students to stay on track with their research degree programmes and to build on the core transferable skills introduced during the Induction Workshop in October 2017. This training is part of a structured programme for developing competences in transferable skills and transformative leadership for students, supervisors and the Management.

Participants will be introduced to coaching techniques, Progress Review and Project Planning, Research Leadership and Presentation techniques.

This will be followed up by one-day workshop for supervisors of the SACIDS-ACE PhD students to review progress, address any challenges and to plan for the future.

This will be followed up by one-day workshop for the academic leadership of the SACIDS-ACE PhD programme to come together to review progress to date, to address any challenges and to plan for the rest of the academic year.
