SACIDS Foundation for One Health participated in the Joint Scientific Conference for Tanzania One Health and 37th Tanzania Veterinary Association (TVA)

SACIDS Foundation for One Health participated in the Joint Scientific Conference for Tanzania One Health and 37th Tanzania Veterinary Association (TVA) from 27 to 29 November 2019 brought together world-class delegates in Arusha, Tanzania.

The theme for this year’s conference focused on the One Health concept. Collaborative, Multisectoral, and Transdisciplinary Smart Partnership with the goal of achieving optimal animal, public and environmental health outcomes.The event was graced by the Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Hon. Dr. Faustine Ndugulile.

SACIDS showcased its work on One Health research and training, capacity building, as well as demonstrated its AfyaData application that enhance early detection, timely reporting and prompt response of health events in humans and animals. AfyaData app incorporates all the features of current official disease surveillance data collection in both the human and animal health sectors plus additional features such as geo-tagging and mapping, feed-back loops and integrative knowledge management to assist primary responder decisions.

Activities during the Exhibitions of the Conference comprised exhibitions from various international, regional, national health sector players such as pharmaceutical and medical technologies manufactures and dealers, network of reference laboratories, local traditional/alternative medicine producers, private sector, academic and research institutions and government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

 

The following transpired during the event:

  • SACIDS booth was privileged to be visited by, Tanzania Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Hon. Dr. Faustine Ndugulile. Several other dignitaries also visited the booth.
  • The SACIDS Team described SACIDS works and demonstrated AfyaData application to the visitors.
  • SACIDS live Tweeted with the hashtags #37thTVAConference , #OneHealthCoordinationDesk during the event tagging other stakeholders such as the Sokoine University, Tanzania Government and Ending Pandemics.

The exhibitions was organized and coordinated by the Tanzania Veterinary Association (TVA) in collaboration with One Health Coordination Desk (OHCD) under the Prime Minister’s Office.

SACIDS Foundation for One Health was among the sponsors of this year’s Conference that brought together all stakeholders of Health from the Ministry, Higher Education Institutions, Research Institutions, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations from Tanzania and abroad.
