February 15, 2019

The SACIDS Foundation for One Health is a One Health partnership of medical and veterinary institutions, that was founded in 2008 by universities and national research institutions in 5 Member States of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). It has since evolved from a consortium to a research and training Foundation and expanded its relevance to sub-Saharan Africa, while maintaining its primary focus in Southern and Eastern Africa. The mission of the SACIDS Foundation for One Health is to harness innovations in science and technology in order to improve Africa’s capacity to DETECT, IDENTIFY and MONITOR infectious diseases of humans, animals and their interactions, within the African ecosystems, in order to better manage the risk posed by them.
