Dr Filomena Namuba

Dr Filomena Vitalis Namuba BVM, MPH

Filomena is the SACIDS One Health Epidemiologist and Programme Manager responsible to the Executive Director, primarily for delivering an effective and collaborative programme of work in the SACIDS network. She works closely with other members of the SACIDS Secretariat and the SACIDS consortium institutions in order to ensure effective One Medicine, inter-sectoral, holistic collaboration on infectious diseases irrespective of species.
She assists the Executive Director in the day-to-day management of the Secretariat and Virtual Graduate School at SUA, liaising with the university management.
Prior to joining SACIDS, Filomena worked for Voxiva, Inc. as the Training Coordinator cum Acting Country Manager for Phones for Health/ Tanzania where she was responsible for supervising staff, overseeing financial transactions, liaising with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other aspects of the general management and functioning of the Phones for Health work in Tanzania. Later, she worked as a full time consultant at the capacity of a Data Quality, Sustainability and Training Coordinator for the Phones for Health Tanzania Project where Voxiva was supporting the implementation of a series of phone- and internet-based solutions to support critical information flows for Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) among other health programmes in Tanzania.
Formerly, she worked with the Interchurch Medical Assistance, Inc. (currently doing business as IMA World Health) at the capacity of Programmes Coordinator where she was coordinating the Burkitt’s Lymphoma (BL), DiflucanĀ® Partnership (DPP) and Home Based Care (HBC) Programmes. She also worked with World Vision Tanzania (WVT) initially as a Capacity Building Associate and later as a Health Promotion Campaign Officer and a Training Officer.
